Keizer, OR

Situated in Marion County, Oregon, Keizer is a suburb of Salem in the Willamette Valley. Incorporated in 1982, Keizer spans a total area of 7.21 square miles. Its also the 14th largest city in Oregon, with a population of close to 37,000 residents.

Initially, Keizer wasn’t the 24-hour city it is now, but rather a growing community adjacent to Salem. However, in 1964 a number of residents believed it would be far better to form a city of their own. It wasn’t until November 2, 1982, however, that Keizer was voted to be made a city.

Keizer hosts a number of annual cultural events, such as the Iris Festival and Keizer Miracle of Christmas Lighting Display. The city is also home to several museums and other points of interest, like The Keizer Heritage Museum – within the Keizer Heritage Community Center – and Keizer Rapids Park, where attractions include sports courts, nature trails, playgrounds, boat-in camping and a dog park.

Over the years, a number of schools have been established to accommodate the growing population of the region. While Keizer is fairly dependent upon the prosperity of Salem, lawmakers are working to further develop and expand Keizers economy.
