Incorporated on August 3, 1911, Aumsville is located on the former pioneer farm of Henry L. Turner. He had named the farm after Amos M. Davis, his son-in-law, better known as Aumus. The city has a long and historic past, spanning more than 120 years.

The centralized location of Aumsville has much to do with its rich history. Not to mention, it has made the city an ideal location for local farmers to sell their yields. The establishment of the Oregon Central Railroad further solidified Aumsville as a trading center, making it a key stop along the route.

The Annual Corn Festival is one of the reasons for the city’s popularity. Aumsville has also been a victim of frequent tornadoes, with the most recent being the EF2 tornado that touched down in Aumsville on December 14, 2010.
